New job, familiar client team: a Software Architect’s route through Wave

Wave Company

Christian Jörgensen spent 16 years at a defence sector company. Then he left for Wave, and today he works in the same company’s team again, this time as a Wave consultant.

Switching sides after 16 years

Christian graduated into the IT sector in 2007. He’s a senior Software Developer and Software Architect. His specialty is understanding large systems and building their architectures, seeing the bigger picture.

Christian worked at the defence sector company for over a decade, until in 2022 Wave got in touch with him. Wave was searching for a big team for the global medtech client account, and Christian was headhunted. The opportunity was simply too tempting, and Christian took a leap of faith, accepting the job offer.

“What stood out to me was that Wave matched me to a suitable project already during the headhunting phase, taking my interests and expertise into account.”

The right skills at the right time

Christian started at a global medtech client, working on the frontend and user interface of patient monitors. His team developed the Carescape and portable patient monitors. These projects were a precise fit for his skillset.

After global medtech, next up was the defence sector company. They had been looking for someone with skills in mission support system architecture for a while, and said explicitly that they could bring an external consultant into the team only if it was Christian. The timing worked, and now he’s the only consultant in a team of defence sector employees.

Although a seasoned expert, Christian says he’s learned a lot along the way. At the global medtech client, he got used to coordinating between many teams on huge projects, sometimes seven teams building the same product from different angles. That taught him a lot about teamwork and sharing information. More recently he’s been exploring AI in software development.

Wave is reliable, relaxed, and fair

When asked to describe Wave as an employer, Christian uses three words: reliable, relaxed, and fair.

Relaxed, because the organization is flat and the atmosphere is laid-back. Reliable, because he trusts Wave fully, and knows he’ll always be matched to projects with his best interest in mind. Fair, because Wave listens to its consultants, and the pay model is a win-win for both sides.

“Wave is interested in its people’s wellbeing, so I know I’ll always be listened to and matched to a suitable project if things change.”
